Carnage sent us a long email about some new information about their mod.
It's been some time since we last had some news to post on your great site, but we have some now.
Three new models are underway to beeing skinned, in the meantime we would like to inform you and the public about them.
We are talking about the M109 ADATS (Air defense anti tank system), the russian BTR-80 APC, and last but not least, the mighty USS Missouri battleship.
The Missouri is an old WW2 battleship, so you might think, what the ..... does it do in ofp?
Some history:
The USS Missouri was built as one of the 4 Iowa class battleships after the attack on pearl harbor. she joined the pacific fleet in january 1945. her first assignment was to protect aircraft carriers during the invasion of Iwo Jima that started on Feb 19, 1945. She shot down her first japanese plane with her 5 inch deck gun. The Missouri also gave fire support to the landings on Okinawa on March 24th 1945 by blasting 180 rounds from her 16inch guns(these are the most powerful guns the US military has ever used the shells weigh 2700lbs each the equivalent weight to a volkswagon. On September 2nd 1945 the USS Missouri was given the ultimate honor of being the ship in which the japanese formally surrendered aboard. During the Korean war the USS Missouri bombarded the north korean and south korean coastlines with her powerful guns relentlessly destroying military targets in cities such as Tanchon, Chongjin, Chaho, Songjin and Wonsan. She was first Decommissioned on Feb 26, 1955 and remained decomissioned until early in 1984. She was then recalled to active duty. During the Persian Gulf war the USS Missouri launched the first group of 28 tomahawks that hit Baghdad on the opening night(Jan 17, 1991). These missiles launched at 1:40am became the first shots of Operation Desert Storm. To complement the 28 tomahawks launched from her decks, she also fired 759 rounds from her 16inch guns.
As you might suspect, the M109 ADATS and the BTR-80 will be "drivable" for the players, the USS Missouri will not. It will be out on the sea, answereing to radiocalls for fire missions, be it with tomahawk missiles or a volley of her mighty 16" guns. We believe that whenever the need arises in the near future, this ship will be put into active duty again by the US government, hence it is not out of place in OFP.
